I love desserts whether it is a piece of pie, cake, donuts, brownies, chocolates, ice cream, cookies or candy! Although I love many desserts, my favorite is ice cream and donuts being a close second. One time at a local ice cream parlor, I went in and ordered what they called a Bell Ringer. The bowl was very large and contained a scoop of every flavor they sold on their menu. When the waiter served the large bowl of ice cream they rang a bell. If you ate the whole bowl of ice cream in one sitting without help from anyone else, it was free! Well, I decided to take the challenge. I could not finish the last scoop and a half of ice cream. Needless to say, I did not eat ice cream for awhile after that. I most definitely got my fill of ice cream. That was a few years ago, who knows if the challenge presented itself again whether I would take it or not.
My quilt guild has block exchanges periodically, so I signed up to participate in one. This block exchange took a year to complete. There were a total of 12 ladies in the group. We made the first block so there would be a sample block. Each month our box rotated to a different person on the list so they could make a block.
I decided to make a quilt featuring some of my most favorite desserts. At least there isn’t any calories in a dessert quilt. I provided all the fabrics for the block exchange. The ladies could make as many blocks as they wanted.
Although, the blocks were easy to make I really love the way this quilt turned out. It is really yummy!
I used ice cream and donut flannel on the back of the quilt. The binding has multi colored M&M’s.
