I had joined a Dragon Boat team back around 2001. The coaches for the team were married. When they were expecting their first child they let me know they would love to have a quilt made by me. So I asked if they had a theme for the babies room or a suggestion that was special to them. They indicated they were going to do an ocean or marine theme since dad’s career involved marine life. I told them I would see what I could do.
Well it did not take long to decide what quilt I was going to make. I found the perfect whale fabric! I then found several water themed fabrics to use as a border around each block of whales. I found the perfect flannel of greens and blues to use use as the backing. Needless to say they absolutely loved the quilt. In fact when they were expecting their second child I was told she took the quilt with her to some of the doctor appointments. I am so glad they love the quilt and are using it even if mom uses it more than the kids.
